The main Purpous of this Site
Is to bring attention and change, to the inappropriate examples of the female body that are being forced upon today’s youth. From an early age young girls are tolled exactly what beauty is through television, movies, magazines, and even worse by their own toys. The average young girl plays with a variety of dolls including Bratz, Barbie, Diva Stars, My scene ect. These dolls usually have extremely slender bodies, predominate breasts, long legs, and more often than not revealing clothing. It is the opinion of myself and many others, that Doll and Toy companies should make dolls that serve as a positive influence for young girl as opposed to making dolls that set near impossible standards, body wise. Not only do these dolls have near unobtainable bodies, but they also come dressed in mini skirts, tank tops, high heels, tight pants, hot pant, short shorts, dresses with plunging neck lines, sleek boots that reach above or slightly below the knee, and T-shirts that resemble bras. This does not apply to all Doll and Toy companies, but those are the dolls that I am focusing on, on this site. Girls who played with such dolls as children (often) expect to have similar figures when they grow up, which is more often than not, not the case. Girls who grow up and find that they do not have slender long bodies that resemble their childhood playthings, are often feel insecure about their appearance, many try diet and exercise (which is good, but does not mean that there is anything wrong with their bodies to begin with), others plummet into a pit of self pity and desperate desire of acceptance, and unfortunately some revert to extreme measures such as anorexia, and bulimia. I must also mention the girls who are not negatively affected by these toys and applaud them (and their parents) for not letting the opinions of others cloud their views on their own bodies. Though Toy and Dolls companies should take more responsibility in the products they produce, the main group that should be blamed for this Barbie/Bratz phenomenon are the parents who buy their daughters inappropriate dolls and toys. They should think about how the toys the purchase for their child could affect them in the future. The truth of the matter is that sex sells, and sadly it sells to impressionable girls all over the world.
